Product tiles enclosed

The Gestalt principles of psychology suggest that human beings look for patterns in common shapes to identify groupings and separations, associations and boundaries. In web design products tiles/cards are often free floating- this can cause ambiguity when users are scrolling as it’s not immediately clear whether elements like pricing and text description apply to images above or below. Enclosing product cards either with a hairline or suggesting a boundary via a drop shadow naturally groups together text, images, icons, pricing into a whole so they are easy to differentiate. It also creates a physical boundary of where the user may be required to click or tap, helping the user focus.
